Service description

1256.tax provides tax calculation tools that show the estimated dollar impact of different tax treatments on prediction market trades. The service is for informational purposes only.

Not tax, legal, or financial advice

Nothing on 1256.tax constitutes tax advice, legal advice, or financial advice. The reports and calculations we provide are illustrative estimates based on the data you upload and simplified assumptions about tax rates. They are not a substitute for professional guidance.

You are responsible for verifying all outputs with a qualified tax professional before relying on them for any filing or financial decision.

No guarantee of accuracy

Tax law is complex, changes frequently, and varies by jurisdiction. We make no guarantee that our calculations are accurate, complete, or current. Section 1256 treatment eligibility depends on whether specific contracts qualify as regulated futures contracts or nonequity options under the Internal Revenue Code — a determination that depends on individual circumstances we cannot verify.

Limitation of liability

1256.tax is not liable for any tax penalties, underpayments, overpayments, interest, or any actions taken by the IRS or any other tax authority as a result of your use of this service. You use the service at your own risk.

Payment and refunds

The service costs a one-time payment of $49 per tax year. Once your report has been generated and made available for download, the payment is non-refundable. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from accessing your report, contact support@1256.tax and we will resolve the issue or issue a refund.

Your data

You own your uploaded trade data. We do not claim any intellectual property rights or license to the data you upload. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle your data.

Service availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.
